About

Matt

A lifelong passion for building and designing coupled with 15-years as a Building System Engineer has provided me with an understanding of both the nuts and bolts of how things go together and the larger understanding of how we’ve arrived at today’s built environment.

We spend so much time in our homes who doesn’t want to relax and enjoy their home at the end of a long day? I love doing what I do, creating new spaces or giving new life to old ones. I love designing a space which is both aesthetically pleasing but also has the best “bones” possible.

Those bones are the structure, insulation, wind and weather barriers, MEP (mechanical/electrical/plumbing), so that once everything gets covered up that home will perform as designed for decades to come. I’m typically appalled at the items we discover in almost every home renovation; framing members that have been either incorrectly installed from day one to joist/trusses/rafters that have been hacked thru over the years.

It’s always with a sense of pride that we correct these deficiencies as we go. We're also always excited to upgrade the customers building envelope (vapor barriers, insulation, air sealing) as we go, it just feels good to know that you're improving everything you touch at the end of the day.  It’s the details here that make your home more comfortable day in-day out and keep your heating and cooling bills down for the life of your home.

One aspect of my job that I hate, we make a lot of noise and dust, there’s just no getting around it.  However, we go to great lengths to minimize the renovation process within a customer’s home.  Incorporating ZipWalls (mobile dust barriers) to keep construction dust & debris where it belongs (within the construction zone), HEPA air scrubbers and extractors (vacs) and sticky mats are just a few of the items which are on all our projects.  And maybe most importantly, just caring for the customers home like it’s our own (maybe even a little better 😊).  It’s taking our time to do things right that makes all the difference.  I’m proud that our customer reviews support this claim.
